This Christmas, give the feline in your life the gift of a floating bed. It’s a curved shelf, with a snap-on cushion, that can support up to 35 pounds, and is attached to the wall with partially concealed brackets.
If your cat is anything like mine, it is attracted to heights. And I could see this being pretty darn comfy for a cat.
In a press release posted on his website, the designer, Akemi Tanaka, says the bed, which he calls “Curve,” can blend in with any decor:
“Curve is the result of my own frustration with pet products currently on the market …. I could not find furniture for my cas that would mesh with my own — something that would blend in, not scream crazy cat lady. Curve was designed with today’s modern aesthetic in mind, for pet owners who aren’t willing to sacrifice style.”
He links to a number of online shops that carry his products. At at least one of them, the Curve pet bed retails for $200 — slightly more than I’m willing to spend on a shelf-bed for my cat.
But now I’m thinking that I could make a version of my own!

With the ability to support 35 lbs. it could almost work for my cat.
At $200 a pop, it seems rather excessive. Why not just mount a microwave! (Sorry, bad joke I know - I just hate cats).
It would suck if they fell out, though.
Depends on how high up it is. I would mount it somewhere above a heater vent, maybe. Or by a window.
